Most and least stolen

We’ve written on this topic in years prior and there’s a reason why it’s always eagerly awaited. People don’t like having their car stolen. It’s right up there with a house being burnt to a crisp, a beloved pup passing away, or even losing your job. These are things that happen to good people and it frankly, sucks.

Now, in years past some have taken what they’ll read in a piece like this and come home that night exclaiming to the spouse that they need to sell Model XYZ because it turned up in the most stolen cars blog. We urge some caution here. Just because your car shows up doesn’t mean it’s got a surefire chance of being pilfered. Yes, the cars we’ll report on were stolen at a higher rate than any other car. But if you’re responsible with where you drive and how you leave your car, odds are you’ll pass through life without an incident. Enough background already, let’s get to it.

The following vehicles (2016 to 2018 model range) were the most stolen:

1.     Dodge Charger HEMI

2.     Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

3.     Infiniti QX50

4.     Infiniti QX80

5.     GMC Sierra 1500

6.     Dodge Challenger

7.     Nissan Maxima

8.     Chevrolet Silverado 1500

9.     Chrysler 300

10. Mercedes-Benz S-Class

11. Dodge Charger

12. Dodge Durango

13. Land Rover Range Rover

14. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 c

15. Dodge Charger

16. Nissan Titan

17. Chevrolet Silverado 1500

18. GMC Sierra 1500

19. Audi A7

20. Infiniti QX80

The HEMI is stolen a whopping 5.4 more times than the average car. At a base price of $66,295, having this ride snatched from under you truly hurts. Dodge also has multiple versions of the Challenger show up on this list which is also apparently a hot item.

And here were the least frequently stolen (2016 to 2018 model years):

1.     BMW 3-series

2.     Tesla Model S

3.     Tesla Model X

4.     Chevrolet Equinox

5.     Buick Encore

6.     Subaru Legacy

7.     GMC Acadia

8.     Subaru Forester

9.     GMC Acadia

10. Volkswagen New Beetle

11. BMW 3-series four-wheel-drive

12. Subaru Outback

13. BMW X5

14. Subaru Crosstrek

15. Chevrolet Traverse

16. Subaru Crosstrek

17. Lexus RX 450h

18. Honda Odyssey

19. Mazda MX-5 Miata

20. Cadillac XT5

Why Tesla some folks wonder? Well, common thinking is because they are charged and stored in garages typically, and that reduces potential theft. Yet, there are some other real nice rides on this list that are not highly sought after for some reason.

Hard to say at the end of the day. But again, don’t take this list as gospel, just because the Challenger gets swiped a lot, if you own it responsibly you shouldn’t have an issue.
